Hello Landfall Residents,
As the holiday season quickly approaches, we hope that you will be taking time over the next couple of months to enjoy this special season with your family and friends. As you begin to make plans for the holidays, please allow me to provide some helpful reminders.
GATE ACCESS
During the holidays, we tend to get a large influx of guests coming in and out of Landfall. It is very important to utilize your gateaccess.net app or call in your guests ahead of time to avoid long lines and delays for your guests at the Security gates. We do not want your guest to have an unpleasant or unwelcoming experience. Also, please observe the posted speed limits and remind your guests to do so as well. You may wish to allow a little extra time for your daily travels, as this time of year becomes very busy.
HOUSE CHECKS
If you have plans to travel this holiday season, do not forget to sign up for house checks so that we can periodically monitor your home while you are away. In order to be on the list for house checks, you may fill out our house check form online and email it to security@landfall.org or drop off a paper copy at one of our gatehouses as you exit the community.
PARKING
With the number of holiday parties scheduled over the next couple months, please be reminded that overnight parking is prohibited on all Landfall roads, vacant lots and common areas other than designated parking areas. If you find you have a need to park a vehicle overnight, please reach out to Landfall Security at 910-256-5311 to make appropriate accommodations. Please inform your guests that their vehicles should all be parked on the same side of the road as the other parked vehicles. If you feel that cones should be placed to help control parking, please contact Security as far in advance as possible.
E-BIKES
During this season of gift giving, please be reminded of Landfall’s Rules and Regulations around Electric Assisted Bicycles (E-Bikes). Per Section E. Vehicle Regulations; Item 1.k., E-Bikes are permitted on Landfall roadways but, as in the State of North Carolina, they are considered a motor vehicle. As a result, you must be a minimum of 16 years old to operate an E-Bike on Landfall roadways. Please be aware that Security cannot determine by looking at an E-Biker if the conveyance is under battery assist or solely under peddle power. As a result, we must err on the side of caution and Security will issue citations to those riding them who do not meet the appropriate age criteria.
POSTAL STATIONS
Our Postal Stations experience quite an influx in the number and size of packages, and space is very limited in these facilities. Please ensure that you are picking up your packages in a timely manner.
BEWARE OF SCAMS
It’s no secret that shopping increases during the holidays, and as a result, so do scams. Be careful about how and where you share information, and beware of fraudulent retailers and organizations. Protect your personal information. It’s easy to hit the “Buy” button from anywhere when you’re on your phone or on your laptop. However, be sure you’re not sharing personal or credit card information over public Wi-Fi. Wait until you are on a secure network to make a purchase.
Gift cards are a convenient gift for the holidays, but they also open the door to several scams. To ensure your gift card is protected, avoid the rack and ask for one directly from the counter. There may appear to be deals galore over the holidays, and many of them are on social media, but not all of them are legitimate. Carefully read reviews, look for security credentials on websites, and research unfamiliar retailers before you take advantage of a discount. Always pay by credit card and keep receipts so you can try to get refunds if there’s an issue.
We hope everyone has a wonderful time with their loved ones during this special time of the year. We wish you all happy holidays and a prosperous New Year!
As always, we appreciate your support and are here when you need us!
Thank you,
Your Landfall Security Team
