Hello Landfall Residents,
I hope that you all are as excited as we are that it is almost spring!! Time to put the cold winter days behind us and spring forward into longer days and outdoor adventures.
As we push the clocks forward this weekend for daylight savings, please remind your guests that the Drysdale gate will close at 6:00 pm each evening and will be closed all day on Sundays. As you may have already noticed, the new gate arms are up and operating at Drysdale gate. The new arms are equipped with LED lighting across the bottom of each arm. As soon as the bar code scanner reads an active bar code, the lights change from solid red to flashing red as they begin to open, as soon as they are fully open the lights change from flashing red to solid green. Once you enter and the gate arms begin to close the lights go back through this cycle flashing red as the arms close and solid red once completely closed. It is not until the arms are fully upright that the color changes to green, so I ask that you please wait until the arms turn green and the swing gates are fully open before you proceed.
Eastwood and Arboretum gate arm and LED lighting upgrades coming soon!!
With tax season upon us, please be reminded that the IRS does not solicit over the phone to collect tax payments, violations or fees. Unfortunately, many fall victim to predators posing as IRS agents during this stressful time of the year.
We have also received information on a local scam where someone is posing to be from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office requesting residents take part in a gun buyback program. The Sheriff’s Office has no such program and warns citizens about giving out any personal information over the phone.
Most recently we experienced first hand another local scam which has someone posing to be with Duke Energy and threatening disconnection of service. They falsely inform you that your account is delinquent and that a representative will be coming to your residence within 30 minutes to disconnect your service unless you pay the balance immediately. The individual gives you the option of paying at once with a debit card or paying in person at the corporate office in Charlotte. Beware!
If you have any questions about these or any other potential scams, please do not hesitate to contact me at email@example.com.
LANDFALL ROAD SAFETY
Please be reminded that the Cross-City Trail intersects the Eastwood and Arboretum entrances. This multi-use trail is utilized by bicyclists and pedestrians. Please use extreme caution when entering or exiting Landfall; remember to look both ways when exiting the gates to ensure that there are no oncoming bicyclists or pedestrians.
Landfall CERT has donated some high visibility vests for Security to hand out to any of our bikers, walkers, and joggers. If you would like one of these vests they are available up0on request from any of our friendly Security Officers.
Also, please note that a rolling stop is an unsafe practice and against the law. Please come to a COMPLETE STOP at all stop signs in Landfall.
We look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Annual Meeting on March 24th at 6:00 pm at the Country Club of Landfall.
If there is any way that we can assist please call or email the COA office or contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you from your security staff.
